I am a Chinese American bilingual psychologist and therapist who works with individuals (adults, adolescents and children), couples, families and groups in Alameda County.

In addition to therapeutic models used in doing therapy with individuals (for example, solution-focused brief therapy, relational, family systems, psychodynamic, behavioral, or cognitive-behavioral therapy [CBT] approaches), the consultation services I provide include facilitating meetings for organizations, and helping groups to increase morale and create a working environment more conducive to collaboration and achieving common goals.

Psychology can help people with specific disorders or issues, and it can also help people cope with life situations or make changes in their lives. While it is often hard to ask for help, some cultures make it even more difficult to seek therapy or discuss problems. My own experience with the Chinese culture has sensitized me to this issue and provides insight into other multi-cultural and diversity issues.

As a licensed clinical psychologist, my goal is to use treatment models such as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help you with a range of life issues that may include:

  • Depression and anxiety
  • Stress
  • Identity
  • Relationships
  • Communication skills
  • Developing a social support network
  • Organizational and time-management skills
  •
  • Parenting skills
  • Intergenerational conflicts
  • Crisis situations at home or at work
  • Food, eating and body image
  • Self-injurious behaviors in teens and young adults
  • Alcohol and drug addiction
  • Problem gambling and gambling addiction
  •
  • Post-immigration stress
  • Trauma experiences
  • Life transitions
  • Grief and loss

Contact me for a consultation.  At our first meeting, we will determine whether there is a good fit between the therapist and client and answer questions about the therapy process. Once a decision is made to start therapy, I will discuss with you a therapy approach, potential length of the therapy process, and a treatment plan that will be most appropriate for you.
